The bible has much to say about thanks, being thankful, and thanksgiving. The early founders of our nation deemed thanks important enough to celebrate the goodness of God that they celebrated a time of thanksgiving for several days. Later on, our leaders set aside the fourth Thursday of November as a National Day of Celebration, a time of giving thanks unto God.
I remember growing up and going to my grandmother's house, she had 10 kids, so when everyone showed up for the holiday, it was a massive outpouring of love, recreation, and food. In those days the adults sit at one table, while the kids sit at another table, that is if you ever lucky enough to get a seat.
My grandmother's house was old, out in the country, and it had high ceilings, with a very small kitchen, but then there was the pantry room, which also had a big table. You can imagine the crowd if all ten of her kids showed up, with their kids, with most having four kids, some having 3 kids, and others having 2 kids, though one of them had 6 kids.
In reality, very few of us were ever able to get a seat at the table, as you grew older, you might be able to crowd someone out, but by then, you were usually looking for some space, so as to not be so overcrowded. As we look at our sto ...
