What makes a regular guy or girl minding their business and living their life all of a sudden become a sold out follower of this Christ?- What happens that so changes people? Redirects them? Transforms them? Where does this begin. That's what we see today.
Transformation. It is changing. Becoming something different. And we see it all around us in life. A butterfly begins as a caterpillar and is transformed into a butterfly. A beautiful flower begins as a little seed but is transformed into a lovely rose. But what about people? Do people change? Well here I think its important I define the kind of transformation I mean. When I say transformation I mean "The work of God transforming you into the person He desires you to be." Which more specifically is "God making you more like Jesus Christ." - Does this mean wearing sandals, having a beard, maybe taking up carpentry? You are welcome to try all those things. But I'm talking about the life of Christ being manifest in you. The character of Christ being formed in you. The Bible speaks of this transformation...
2 Cor. 3:18- And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Rom. 12:2- Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
- Transformation is a PROCESS not an EVENT. But this morning I want us to see... that it starts at a point in time. There is an instantaneous change that does take place that leads to progressive change. This is conversion and it comes from believing the gospel. When we are converted we are changed... and change begins to take place. This can only happen when we understand, repent and believe the gospel. The ...
