Title: Why Do the Nations Rage? (2)
Series: Summer in the Psalms
Author: Josh Malone
Text: Psalm 2
- Throughout history kingdoms have risen and fallen. Nations have risen and fallen.
- There is one Kingdom that shall never fall. There is one King who shall never falter. There is one rule that shall be perfectly good and always perfectly just. Christians long for Jesus to return and God's Kingdom shall come in finality.
- Today, many times the world can seem chaotic. Evil people can seem to get their way. Godless ideologies can be triumphed. The righteous can even be persecuted.
- Psalm 2 is a reminder for us of who the real and ultimate King is. It's a reminder for us that God is sovereign and in the end His will and His Kingdom shall prevail. It's a reminder for us that our only hope is the perfect King ... Jesus.
- It's a reminder to every king, every leader, and every nation ... you are not in control. You are not the ultimate authority. You shall give an account, and your only hope is the same as ours ... Jesus the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
- Psalm 2 is a ROYAL PSALM. - It's written from the perspective of one of Israel's kings. Multiple psalms are royal psalms throughout the Psalms. It is also a MESSIANIC PSALM. It contains things that are ultimately fulfilled by the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
- It has been called the most quoted psalm in the NT. This is a popular psalm.

4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. 5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, 6 "As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill."
