God's people Have a Vote (1 of 2)
Jordan Easley
Acts 1
I Pledge Allegiance
I don't know about you... but I'm about ready for the election season to be over. AMEN? I'm so sick and tired of seeing political ads on TV. I'm tired of the yard signs and flags and bumper stickers... and I'm sick of being bombarded by all the political propaganda every time I get on social media or online... Anybody else? I'm about done with all the debating... and all the name-calling... and all the division that we see happening between friends and families and within communities.
Another reason I'm ready for Tuesday to be over, is because... I'm ready for my phone to stop ringing! AMEN? I bet I've gotten 100 text messages asking for my vote and my support over the past 2 weeks. I've never 'reported and blocked' so many phone numbers in all my life. It's seriously insane.
Seasons like these can be exhausting... and sometimes, even for us as believers... (instead of being motivated to step up and speak up) we get so FED UP... that we decide to just mute the noise... slip into the shadows... be silent...and act like none of this is even happening... (and you know what? I think that's exactly what the devil wants us to do.)
I recently read a Barna research report that said as many as 104 million people of faith are unlikely to vote in this year's election. (And that includes more than 32 million self-proclaiming... Bible-believing... church-going Christians in America) That means... Nearly half of the believers in this country will be completely silent in this upcoming election. The reason that's so troubling... is because I know two things to be true: (#1) Every vote counts... and (#2) When Christians are silent, Christian values become stagnant.
Think about this: In the 2020 presidential election, the margin of victory in the 9 swing states were roughly 600,000 votes... which tells me, if just a fraction of the estimated 32 million absent Christians would ...
