- At the end of our service today we are going to EAT. -Christians love to eat! - If you went on Family Feud and the category was "Name a food churches eat together after their worship service." OR "Name a meat most likely to be Baptist." - Today, we'd be eating the first place ... survey says number 1 ... fried chicken. Chicken that has been baptized in hot oil. Yum.

- You can learn a lot about others over a meal. - You can get to know people.

- When a guy asks a gal out ... he may say, "Would you like to go to ... dinner." When you are trying to get to know another family you may say, "Let's invite them over for dinner."

In fact ... the Scriptures reveal a lot about Jesus ... around MEALS. Jesus utilized meals to do miracles, teach, reach outsiders, etc. - We can learn a lot about Jesus ... around the meals he attends, shares in, illustrates with, etc. in the Bible.

- We are beginning a new series called "Meals with Jesus."We are going to be looking at some of these in the coming weeks. This is not a series primarily about meals ... but rather Jesus. But it highlights something unique ... Jesus utilized meals in his mission ... regularly.

- Before we get into that in the series ... I wanted to kick this off with more of a topical message about how MEALS MATTER. - Meals matter, they really do. We know what we eat matters, who we eat with matters too. Meals matter for they are relationally touch points or connecting points. They represent opportunities to build, strengthen, and begin relationships. They represent opportunities to teach, to learn, to grow ... to serve, to love, to care. - In fact ... Jesus was criticized about how he engaged in MEALS.
