Now today we are starting a new series called POCKET SIZED PASSAGES.

We are going to look into the 5 books of the bible that are only 1 chapter long.

They are short but they are mighty.

Each has a powerful word that can challenge us in our Sanctification Process.

In our process of becoming more like Christ.

They all are like a personal spiritual development challenge.

If you lean into these small books and show up all 5 weeks I promise you will not be worse off.

So today let's turn to the Old Testament book Obadiah. The book before Jonah.

Now if you just read this book you would probably just go fast through it b/c it covers so much history and could be quite confusing.

Easy to skip powerful passages of Scripture simply b/c we just don't understand them.

I want to help you through this today...

Let's start by asking the question - WHO IS OBEDIAH - He was a prophet that many believed prophesied after the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem in 586 BC.

Obadiah had a VISION.

A vision for 2 groups of people.

The People of Judah: Obadiah's prophecy was intended to bring comfort to the people of Judah, who had experienced suffering at the hands of the Babylonians and betrayal by their Edomite neighbors.

The Nation of Edom: The vision directly condemns Edom. Throughout the prophecy, Edom is denounced for its pride and its violence against Judah during their time of crisis. You will see Edom had taken advantage of Judah's weakness, stealing in their cities and attacking refugees. So, Obadiah declares that because of these actions, Edom would face divine judgment.

This is what the Sovereign Lord says about Edom-

Who is Edom?

If you go to.... Genesis 36:1,8,9. It says 2x's in those 3 passages that Esau is Edom.

So we have to ask then who is Esau?

Well now let's look into.... 1 of Isaac ...
