Text: Ephesians 6:1-4
A disgruntled schoolteacher handed in her resignation many years ago with the following comment: "In our public schools today, the teachers are afraid of the principles, the principles are afraid of the superintendents, the superintendents are afraid of the board members, the board members are afraid of the parents, the parents are afraid of the children and the children are afraid of nobody."
Today children are often more influenced by their peers than their parents so they don't respect authority and do what they want.
Chuck Swindoll told a story that he went to have his ear examined a couldn't help overhear what was going on in the other room between the doctor and an emotional mother. She was saying, "You've got to do something about this boy of mine." And the doctor responded, "What do you want me to do, ma'am? You're the mother. Now if you don't keep him out of the swimming pool,
he will have constant ear infections."
She said, "He's too big for me to handle. I can't keep him out of the pool. You have to help me with medicine or something that will take away the problem and the infection."
Chuck thought as he listened, Man, it's obvious who's in charge in that home. And he expected when they walked out of that room that this boy would be about 6 foot 2 inches and 17 years old.
But when they came out of the room the boy was a kindergartner.
Disobedience is an attitude no matter how old a child is which causes many problems in a home between parents and children.
A mother of three unruly preschoolers was asked whether she would have children if she had to do it all over again.
"Sure,"she responded, "just not the same three kids."
CHILDREN - Obey :1-3
Children - those who are living under their parents' authority.
They live with their parents and are supported by them.
They become independent when they ...
