- We continue our "Core Belief" series, asking this question "Do we or Don't We".
- Questions have a way of revealing truth and today, truth is hard to come by,. Think about this; this culture, in the age of feelings, tells us to follow our hearts, while the word of our Creator tells us in Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is more deceitful than anything else, and incurable." Then it ends with a question: "WHO CAN UNDERSTAND IT?" We could consider this a rhetorical question if it stopped there, but verse 10 brings our life, heart, and actions into focus when we read, "I, the LORD, examine the mind, I test the heart to give to each according to his way, according to what his actions deserve." What do we deserve? When we ask questions it forces us to answer what we might otherwise not respond to, and it makes us face realities that we might not want to face.
- The question that I have been asking for now - 4 weeks are connected to our Core Beliefs. We have already asked about the first three. Arriving at #4, we find a question the should sober us.
- The question today is this: "Do we really seek to honor God in all we do?" This is a needed, a required, and a spiritual question. Let's think deeply about it. Is every part of our life given to Him? All we say, all we do, how we act, our attitude, our personal relationships and everything else, do we act and live to honor Him.
- Some people may think, "The Bible doesn't say that we have to honor God in ALL we do" and you would be right that there is not a "VERSE" that gives those words. Almost 400 years ago, the Westminster Shorter Catechism was written and says, "The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever" but even that is not verbatim in scripture. But make no mistake, both truths are taught IN the scripture. Before we unpack this, let place a couple things ...
