For over 2,000 years, the world has been talking about the second coming of JesusChrist... and today (as we turn to the back of the book in Revelation chapter 19) we're going to get a glimpse of what that moment will be like.
The Reality of His Return-Jesus is coming back!
[Rev. 19:11] 11 Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Remember-this isn't just a dream or a hallucination that John had, while he was in exile on the island of Patmos. This was a vision from Jesus, through an angel, that he saw. Did you catch that? Then I SAW heaven opened... ...The Lord showed John exactly what would happen in the future.
We've already seen several other things Jesus allowed him to 'see.' The Rapture of the Church... and the 7 years of tribulation... and the Antichrist coming to rule and reign. He's given us in great detail, a vivid picture of the details leading up to the final battle-Armageddon. But now we've arrived at the moment we've all been waiting for! The moment where heaven opens up... and King Jesus returns-riding out on a white horse.
The second coming of Jesus is the primary message of Revelation. This isn't just a book about prophecy or eschatology-it's a book about Jesus, from the first page to the last. This is a book that's designed to remind you-that Jesus is coming back!
In [Rev. 1:7] it says, 7 Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him. LISTEN-Jesus is coming back!
A few years ago, I was standing on the Mount of Olives overlooking the city ofJerusalem... and as I stood there, I realized that I was standing in the same spot on the same Mount of Olives... where Jesus was standing with his disciples... when left the earth and ascended into heaven. When that hit me, I opened my Bible to [Acts 1] and tried to imagine this scene:
