INTRODUCTION

Alright, take your Bibles this morning and find your place in Luke chapter 2 again. We are in a
very simple series of sermons for the Christmas season entitled, "The Gift Of Christmas."

Illustration: I heard about an aunt who had given her nephew a Christmas present and when he opened it up she could tell right away that he was disappointed. She said, "I'm sorry. I thought you would like it." The nephew looked back at her and said, "That's alright. It's just that when you asked me if I liked big checks or small checks, I didn't think you were talking about a necktie."

Illustration: Of course, as one person said, "Christmas is the time of year when the tree gets trimmed, and so does the budget."

Illustration: I heard about a little boy who came into the living room one day, just a few weeks before Christmas, and told his parents that he no longer wanted the toys that he'd put down on his Christmas list. His mother looked at him and asked, "Well, didn't you write Santa a letter and ask him to bring those toys to you?"

"Yes, but I looked in the closet the other day, and I've already got them."

Well, so far in this series of studies, we have looked at the fact that Christmas is:

- A Gift Worth Waiting For

- Now, even though Christmas is a gift worth waiting for, if you've never come to
know the Christ of Christmas, if you've never met the babe of Bethlehem, experienced the miracle of the manger, then let me just ask you one question - what in the world are you waiting for?

- I mean, if you've been waiting for just the right time to give your heart to Jesus, I can't think of a better time than now.

- If you've been waiting for just the right day to give your heart to Jesus, I can't think of a better day than today.

Paul said in 2 Cor. 6:2, "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. ...
