INTRODUCTION

If you would, take your Bibles now this morning and find your place at Luke chapter 2. We are in a very simple series of sermons for the Christmas season entitled, "The Gift of Christmas."

Paul said in 2 Corinthians 9:15, "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!"

Jesus, talking to the woman there at Jacob's well in John 4 said, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."

And then of course the best-known, most-loved, verse in all of the Bible begins with these wonderful words - "For God so loved the world, that He gave. . ."

So, Christmas is a gift - and His name is Jesus.

Let's read about Him together from Luke chapter 2, beginning with verse 8. "Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.10 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.11 "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."

Well, the clock is ticking, the days are counting down to the most wonderful time of the year.

As a matter of fact, I know that some of you - mostly men - are running out of days to do your Christmas shopping and so, maybe you might need a little bit of help in this area of finding just the right gift to give your wife this year.

So, what I thought I'd do this morning is give you a few suggestions and some general guidelines to help you make sure you don't blow it again this year.
