INTRODUCTION
If you have a Bible with you on this Easter Sunday morning turn with me to Matthew 28. If you don't have a print copy of the Bible, you can scan the QR code on the screen or handout to access the notes and scriptures for this morning's message, or if you prefer, you can simply follow along with the points on the screen.
We've been in a series of studies this Easter season at Abilene entitled, "Risen: From the Upper Room to the Empty Tomb."
In this series of studies, we've looked at and learned about -
- The Victory of Gethsemane
- The Testimony of Golgotha's Thorns
- Last week - How God Forgives Sins Question: How does God forgive sins? Through the cross. There on the cross -
- Jesus took your place.
- Jesus endured your punishment.
- Jesus paid your debt.
- Jesus made your reconciliation so that you could come into God's presence and have peace with God.
That brings us to our last message in this series, and I've got to admit that I've saved the best for last.
This morning, as we've gathered together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, I want you to see "The Results of the Resurrection." I want to share with you Why Easter Matters.
Example: In any and every sermon there's the "Why?" question. "Why should I care?" "Why should I listen?" Why does this matter?" Here's the answer to the question: "Why does Easter matter?" Without Easter NOTHING else matters.

This is it. This is as good as it gets, if Jesus didn't rise from the dead.
Paul put it this way -
1 Corinthians 15:14-20, "If Christ is not risen, then our preaching ...
