INTRODUCTION

Take your Bibles and turn with me to Luke chapter 15. We're in a series of sermons on the parables of Jesus I've entitled, "Amazing Stories."

Now, most of the time when people look at, read, and study Luke 15, they'll talk about the four parables in this chapter. I don't think that's right. I don't think these are four parables, but rather four stories that when put together make up one parable.
I think verse 3 makes this clear - "So He spoke this parable to them, saying..."
So, these aren't four parables that Jesus told, but rather, these are four parts, four stories, Jesus told to form one parable to teach one important lesson, and that's how important just one person, one soul, is to Jesus.

And it's that fourth and final part that I want us to look at and learn from this morning.
Now, remember, a parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. It's a story about things and situations and people and places that men and women are familiar with. I think most of the time these are stories about things that really happened, and Jesus knew about them. So, He took what happened and used that story as an illustration to teach His disciples a spiritual truth or heavenly lesson they needed to learn.
