Title: I Don't Want to be a Sycamine Tree
Author: Steve Wagers
Text: Luke 17:1-6

When the knights of King Arthur's court returned from battle, they were examined for bruises, cuts, and wounds. If they did not bear any ailments in their bodies they were thrust out of the king's presence and back into the battle with a direct command, "Go and get your scar!"

Without a scar, King Arthur believed, you didn't really engage in the warfare. Sometimes the greatest badge of courage is the scar we received from the conflict.

"The Painful Side of Leadership, Jeff Iorg : "God often allows us to experience pain so we can help others with similar problems. An aura of authenticity, created by the scars on our souls, connects us with the deepest hurts of others. There is no shortcut to being equipped to offer genuine comfort to hurting people. Wounded people give the best comfort."

14th President - Franklin Pierce. Only President to refuse to use the Bible in his inauguration. Few weeks before his son Benny was killed in a train accident. He got so bitter at God, he refused to put his hand on a Bible to be sworn in as President.

Jesus uses an object, ONLY used ONE time, to show what to do when someone pulls our trigger.
