INTRODUCTION: I'd like to start out by asking a question, and that question is...have you ever asked for something and found out you had to wait for it? Have you ever wanted something but it didn't come to you as quickly as you wanted it to? Do you know what it's like to have a desire for things to happen a certain way, or within a certain amount of time in your mind, or according to your timetable, only to find out that it didn't take place until the powers that be allowed it to take place? At some point, we going to have to come to the understanding that things are completely out of our hands and when we ask for things to take place, it might not happen just when we want it to but will happen according to God's timetable. Paul said in Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for the good of them that love God, the called according to His purpose." It may not happen just when we want it to, it might be Delayed, But Not Denied.

BACKGROUND/TEXT: Our text today is found in the Book of Daniel. This prophet's work were written during the time of Israel's captivity by the Babylonians. When he was taken into captivity, they changed his name to Belteshazzar, thus completing his transformation from an Israelite to a Babylonian. Dr. John MacArthur, in his MacArthur Bible Commentary says, "Daniel was written to encourage the exiled Jews by revealing God's program for them, both during and after the time of Gentile power in the world. Prominent above every other theme in the book is God's sovereign control over the affairs of rulers and nations, and their final replacement with the True King."
