Title: Being Encouraged During Troubling Times

INTRODUCTION: Nobody ever said we wouldn't have some trouble every now and then. There are times in our lives when things, people, situations, and circumstances can and will have an effect on us and we can become discouraged. In these pandemic times we're in right now:
- If you've lost job and you're not sure if you'll get it back, you can easily become discouraged.
- If your bank or mortgage company has written you or they want to take action again you because you may have gotten behind on your payments, you can easily get discouraged.
- If you've been sick as a result of this pandemic, have gone to see doctor, and you know that many people have died as a result of this virus, you can become discouraged.
- You've made it up in your mind to draw closer to God but sometimes you don't understand the "thees" and the "thous" and the way the Bible is written, you can easily become discouraged.
If we're not careful, we will allow our surroundings and our current situation dictate to us how we should feel and proceed, when actually we should be leaning and depending on God and His power and direction for our lives to get us where He wants us to be.
The way I see it, being discouraged is not of God!!! What I'm trying to say is that if we know God like we say we know God, and if we know God and His power like we say we know God, and if we know God and His promises like we say we know God, then we don't have a reason or an excuse to become discouraged.
There comes a time when you've got to ask yourself the question, "Am I doing what I do because this is what I want to do or is it because God has given me a mandate to get it done?" Dr. Henry Blackaby, in his book entitled "Experiencing God" said, "Once you understand God's call to an assignment, obey Him and He will work through you to accomplish His purposes."
