2 Corinthians 9:6-8

INTRODUCTION: Every year, people look forward to the day after Thanksgiving known as "Black Friday." On this day, people go to the stores and spend a lot of time and effort looking for the so-called "best deals of the year." It's a day I don't personally participate in because of the potential for people to get beside themselves over material things and possessions. Some years ago, I heard stories and watched news reports of people getting trampled trying to get into the stores and ended up in the hospital instead.

One of the problems we're faced with regarding "Black Friday" and the entire Christmas season is the fact that people, generally speaking, give what belongs to God to the retailers instead of being obedient and sowing into the Kingdom of God. Then they find out in January that they're reaping a lot of bills and credit cards statements and now find it difficult to be obedient to God in giving.

One thing that pleases God is our being obedient by giving to Him. God is the very One who has given the supreme gift-the Lord Jesus Christ. The most loved passage of Scripture clearly proclaims this glorious truth in John 3:16 which reads, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

So, I believe we need to ask ourselves the question, How Are You Sowing and Reaping?

Here in 2 Corinthians 9, Paul is giving instructions to the church regarding the ...
