The Judgment Seat of Christ

Romans 14:10-12
INTRODUCTION: There's coming a time in which all Christians will have to give an account of the things they've done on this side of eternity. The Bible talks about the Judgment Seat of Christ, which is also known as the bema seat. The word bema is a Greek word that means "judgment seat." In the city of Corinth, a stone platform was constructed to support the Bema seat (judgment seat) of the local officials. The seat was used to give out awards to athletes for their competitive performances (usually a crown wreath of leaves), but also to address legal charges brought against individuals. The great Apostle Paul was very familiar with this seat.
BACKGROUND/TEXT: Here in Romans 14, Paul begins discussing doubtful things, and refers to them as doubtful disputations, to the point of laying out that doubtful practices will be judged. People were under the impression that they could do whatever they wanted and as a result, people were judging one another for that. He brought it home in our selected text that no matter who is judging who, all of us will be judged ultimately one day. So, let's talk about the Judgment Seat of Christ.
POINTS:
1. Who Will Be Judged at the Judgment Seat? The Judgment Seat of Christ is reserved for the judgment of Christians only. Born again believers in Christ Jesus. If a person is unsaved and dies in their sin, he will be judged at the great white throne judgment, following Christ's millennial reign on earth. 2 Corinthians 5:10 tell us "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."
So, then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. In the context of this Scripture, it is clear that those judged at the Bema seat are Christians, not unbelievers. The Judgment Seat of Christ, therefore, involves believers giving an account ...
