Psalms 145:1-9

We should have a reason for doing the things we do in this life. To do something "just because" or to do something for the sake of doing something is not the most appropriate nor beneficial reason for doing anything. We should do things with a reason and purpose in mind. For example:
- We attend and finish school so we can get a good job and make a better living;
- We go to the gym for the purpose of becoming healthier;
- We learn how to drive so we can get around without having to rely on someone or mass transit all the time;
- We buy a house in a particular area so we can feel safe.
You see, we have a reason for doing things. Having said that, we should also have a reason for worshipping God and understand why we do it. How many times have to talked to or been around somebody who did something; you asked why they did it, and they responded by saying..." I don't know!"
I believe we need to know why we worship God. The songwriter said, "Praise is what I do...Praise is who I am!" There's a reason why those words were penned and it's because of who God is and what God is capable of doing.

- I would submit that if we're going to invite other people to worship, then we should know why we worship.
- I would submit that if we're to put and keep our faith in God, then we should know why we worship!

In my Bible it's titled "David's Psalm of Praise" which would indicate that David's intent for writing this psalm was to direct his praise to God. C. H. Spurgeon, in his commentary entitled The Treasury of David says this about Psalm 145, "It is David's Praise ...
