It's clear to me that the more time I spend in the Bible, the more the Bible gives back to me. Reading it one time will not reveal to you all that you need to know about the Savior of the world, and all that He's done to take care of our sin situation. It's because of the golden nuggets found in scripture that we're able to see the Lord for who He really is, and what He's able to do.

People today are given nicknames based on what people do or how they conduct themselves, but the different names attributed to Jesus are there because of who He is. Every name given to Him helps us know Him in a better and deeper way, thus growing our relationship with Him. You don't have to go through the entire Bible to know what Jesus can do, but that which you are exposed to will help you and I to know Him in such a way that we come to the realization that we can't live without Him. We can't wake up without Him; we can't get out of bed without Him; we can't make it through the day without Him; and we can't even go to bed without Him, so it makes it truly clear to us that There's Power in His Name!

Concerning the text, Matthew Henry writes, "The psalmist here sets himself to give God the glory due his name." He further writes, "He addresses himself to God with all humility and reverence, as the Lord and his people's Lord." The Pulpit Commentary shares, "Ps. VIII is altogether a psalm of praise and thanksgiving. Its primary idea is the condescending love and goodness of God towards man. That God, who had made the heavens, and set his glory on them, should have a regard for man, and "visit him," and not only so, but give him so lofty a position, so exalted a destiny, is a thought that is well-nigh overwhelming."
