Title: What God Will Do, When We Do What He Wants Us To Do!
Text: Leviticus 26:3-13
Author: Darrow Perkins
INTRODUCTION: Have you ever wondered why some things happen the way they happen in your life? Have you ever considered the timing of some things and why they happened at a particular time? Have you ever asked yourself, "When will things get better for me?" I believe all of us have at some point in time given some thought to these questions and situations and might even be pondering them right now.
Too many times we want to look at things from our perspective and not consider all that God has for us. We don't always take into account what it is we're doing to help ourselves if what we're doing actually hinders our blessings. If I can be real, we even want God to bless us on our terms, when we want the blessing, how we want the blessing, and specifically what we want the blessing to be.
I've said it before that God is a "conditional God" and will bless us based on our meeting His conditions. For example,
- In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God said, "If my people, which are called by name, would humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their lands." Here God was saying that if we meet His conditions, then He would bless us and our land.
- In John 3:16, the Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Here God was saying that if we believed in the Son, the everlasting is promised to us.
- In Romans 10:9, God said, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shat believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Here God is saying that we have to take the steps necessary to receive salvation because it's already been made available to us through Jesus Christ our Lord.
