You and I share a common habit with about 70% of Americans. That habit is: We love shopping on Amazon. We love its selection. Amazon sells over 600 million DIFFERENT products. If Amazon was one big physical store it would be five square miles. We love Amazon's speed-230 million of us pay for Prime to get our stuff in 48 hours or sooner. I confess I get a little thrill when I order something on Amazon and it arrives the SAME DAY! We also trust Amazon. When we find something we want on another website, 90% of us price-check Amazon. Let's face it: Americans are Amazonians.

But, if you are one of the 11,000 Amazon employees here in Bellevue, I apologize for what I'm about to say. Even with all you do, there are rare occasions when I'm disgruntled with Amazon. For example, when I order an item and it arrives on my doorstep damaged or destroyed like this box (show slide). Or, last week, Lori ordered file folders. And this Amazon Prime envelope arrived on our doorstep (show envelope): Sealed and Empty! We couldn't believe it! Who ships an empty envelope?

Now, I know Lori and I aren't alone. Most of you could tell your own stories from Amazon. Likely, you have received your own damaged or incorrect order. But isn't it funny that we expect our relationship with Amazon to be perfect? After all, we're paying for Prime! Even though Amazon processes twenty orders every second, we expect every one of OUR orders to be perfect and problem-free.

In the same way, we expect our relationship with God to always be perfect and problem-free. When tests, trials, and tragedies befall us, we tend to question God. "What did I do to deserve this?" Sometimes, we even doubt His goodness. "If you truly loved me, I wouldn't have to endure this."
