We are on a journey w/ Jonah right now...

Chapter 1. Jonah ran but God ran after him

Chapter 2. Jonah repented and accepted where God had him

Now we are in Chapter 3....

We left Jonah last week being Vomited out of the fish's mouth...

You think he took a shower the second he came out?

Ran into the ocean to clean off... Might have been scared to run back into the ocean... haha

It appears either way, as soon as Jonah comes out of the fish. God reaches back out to him...

Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time:

Can we just pause real quick... Aren't you grateful for the God of Second Chances?

- He is a God who does not write us off when we do something dumb.

- HE is a God who does not give up on us even when we give up on Him.

He is a God that says... As long as you still have air in your lungs I am willing to use you!!!

If you are here today and you are wondering if you matter anymore.

If there is hope for you

If you can recover from the disappointments, you are facing.

God is a God of Second chances...

That is encouraging but we have to ask... What is found through Jonah that opened the second chance?

1. Jonah was responsible for his running

2. Jonah repented for his running

3. Jonah accepted where God had him

4. Jonah worshiped with a heart of gratitude in the belly of the fish

I would encourage you this way...

The God of second chances does not mean you keep living in who you are/were it means you repent of who you are/were and you chose to follow the Lord and be who he has called you to be!

Jonah experienced that and so God reassigns him...

[NIV] 2 "Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you."

God did not forget about Nineveh either.

Jonah's assignment did not change just his heart had to change.
