You know, some things we have questions about, and God doesn't give us the answer, so we have to just say, "Okay, Lord, I trust You." You know, some things aren't given to us to know, so we just trust the Lord.
But today, we want to look a very foundational question, one that is very important for Christians to understand, and it's the question, Can I trust the Bible? Can I trust the Bible? Well, spoiler alert - yes, we're going to know why you can trust the Bible. You know, if you share your faith on a regular basis, you'll run into somebody who you'll talk to them about Jesus, and they'll say, "Well, I don't believe the Bible." And so, that can kind of set you back. It's like, okay, how do you talk to somebody who doesn't believe the Bible? But for us as believers, we need to not only believe the Bible, but know why we can have confidence to believe the Bible. Some years ago, Josh McDowell was at a conference. He brought a twenty-five-year-old girl up there, and he started asking her questions. And she was a Christian girl, and he said, "Do you know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord?" She said, "Yes." He said, "Do you believe that the Bible is the word of God?" And she said "Yes." He said, "Do you believe the Bible is true?" She said, "Yes." He said, "Do you believe the Bible is historically accurate and reliable?" And she said, "Yes, I do." And he said to her, "Why?" And she looked at him, and she had no answer as to why. She couldn't answer why. She knew she believed it, but she didn't know why. Well, it's important for us to know why, so you can have confidence when you share with somebody, and they say, "I don't believe the Bible." You know, it's dangerous the way some people look at the Bible because they haven't read the Bible. They don't know much about the Bible, yet they dismiss the Bible.
