Title: We Are Better Together (4)
Series: Growing Up
Author: Jim Perdue
Text: ?Acts 2:40-47?
Today is Grow Sunday! For weeks, I've been asking you to be a part of a Life Group today and I hope you did just that. If you did, you probably realized it wasn't as scary as you initially thought. Look...you survived! If you didn't, I don't know what else to do to encourage you to take this step in your faith. Trust me, it will help you grow in your faith, build relationships, and follow Jesus more faithfully.
Don't worry, if you missed getting plugged in to a Life Group this morning, you will have another chance next week. That's the great news about this. It's not a one-time thing. My hope is that you will be a part of a Life Group each and every Sunday as we gather together.
Today, I want to finish the sermon series, Growing Up! by giving you a simple reminder: We Are Better Together. In other words, God created us for community. He intends us to live and operate with others around us. We were created for a relationship with God and with others. That's what we see happening in Acts 2:40-47. READ TEXT
*I've never seen the giant redwood trees in California, but they are on my bucket list for sure. I've heard that these are absolutely massive. Some of them stand over 350 feet tall and have been around for thousands of years. Now, you might think that trees that big must have roots that go way down into the ground, right? But here's the surprising part-their roots are actually pretty shallow. So, how do these towering giants stay upright through storms, strong winds, and even earthquakes? The secret isn't in how deep their roots go but in how wide they spread. You see, redwoods grow in groves, and their roots reach out horizontally, intertwining with the roots of other redwoods nearby. They literally hold each other up! Alone, a single redwood would struggle to stand, but together, they form a strong, resilient community that can weather any storm.*
