Introduction

1. Let's see how many of you know exactly who you are and where you belong. If you don't know I'll put them up on the screen and you can raise your hand if you don't mind. How many of you remember:

-The Silent Generation - born 1925-1945

-The Baby Boomer Generation - born 1946-1964

-Generation X - born 1965 -1979

-Millennials - born 1980-1994

-Generation Z - born 1995-2012

- Gen Alpha - born 2013-2025

We are all born to a certain generation, we are divided by generations, and we are generationally linked.

2. Generally speaking a generation refers to people born and living in about the same time in a collective group. The average period is considered to be about 20-30 years. Generations eventually die and new generations are eventually born. Yet, one thing is true about all generations and that is to determine the future of any generation is how past and present generations impact the next generation.

3. Reagan famously said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not passed on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."

4. That is not only true about freedom, but it is true about truth. It is true about morality. It is true about what is right and wrong, good and evil, godly and ungodly. It is why history is so important, because as the philosopher George Santayana famously said, "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it." If we don't learn from our mistakes of yesterday and repeat those mistakes today, it will doom us tomorrow. If we don't learn from their mistakes and not only repeat them, they never mature.
