As we conclude our series of messages under the heading THE DEUTERONOMY CONNECTION, take God's word and turn with me to Matthew 22. Over the last several weeks, we have discovered that the "go to" book of Jesus was Deuteronomy.

What about you? What is your "go to" book in the bible? What book has most impacted your life and walk with God? There are as many answers to that question as there are people listening to this message. But if you had to narrow it down to one book, which book would you choose and why?
?For Jesus, it was the book of Deuteronomy. He had learned the book of Deuteronomy from childhood because it was the one book God gave to the children of Israel, in how to survive as a nation once they entered the Promised Land. What the Constitution is to the United States, the book of Deuteronomy was to the children of Israel. It included every aspect of living and getting along with others.

It's not easy to get along with others, is it? Some people never learn how to play in the sandbox with others. It requires a divine determination and God helping us in accomplishing it.

Well, when we come to Matthew chapter 22, we find the Pharisees, once again, trying to trap Jesus. They were like gnats, always buzzing around bothering and irritating Jesus. We read in verses 15-17, "Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to trap him by what he said. So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, 'Teacher,' they said, 'we know that you are truthful and teach truthfully the way of God. You don't care what anyone thinks nor do you show partiality. Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar nor not?"
