If you have a "go to" book in the bible, it's because you have been impacted by it. It has taught you something about Jesus that drew you in. It helped meet a need at just the right time. And because of its impact and influence in your life, you find yourself constantly returning to it for direction, encouragement, inspiration and assurance. It's there when you need it, and you know where to find it, for you've made a connection with it.

We're thinking these days about The Deuteronomy Connection and we're learning that Jesus had a special connection with the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy. He wasn't the only one in the New Testament period that had made a Deuteronomy connection. The Apostle Paul had made the same connection quoting from it as many as nineteen times in the books of Romans, Hebrews, 1 Corinthians and Galatians. The Apostle Peter quoted from it in Acts 3 in his sermon at Solomon's Colonnade. James, the half-brother of Jesus and pastor at the church of Jerusalem quoted from it. They all had made a Deuteronomy connection.

Don't you think since there are sixty references with forty-four direct quotes from the book of Deuteronomy in the New Testament from Jesus, Paul, Peter and James, that we ought to stop and ask ourselves, "What's there about the book of Deuteronomy that led these giants of the faith to make it their "go to" book?

We really should get to know their connection book and include it on our "go to" list. So, what was it about Deuteronomy that so impacted these men that they would include in on their "go to" list?
