Title: Live Wisely (3)
Series: Ephesians 5
Author: Stephen Whitney
Text: Ephesians 5:15-20

President John Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 at the age of 46. Many people asked what would he have accomplished in his life if he had been able to live a long and full life. Why was he killed in the prime of his life?

In his autobiography, Just As I Am, Billy Graham talks about attending President Kennedy's funeral in St Matthew's Cathedral in Washington in November 1963. He was invited to sit among friends of the Kennedy family. The question on everybody's mind was, why did it happen? Like everyone else, he was touched by the sight of the Kennedy children, Caroline and John, Jr. who
were so brave in the face of losing their father.

A different thought had haunted him the day before, when he stood in the Capitol Rotunda about 30 feet from Jackie and the family as he watched the tearful faces of national and world leaders filing by.
His friend Jim Bishop had just written a newspaper column about his last interview with President Kennedy. Billy Graham wrote, "It was hard not to think about his poignant quote from the late President: 'There's so little time and so much to do.'"

Of course, in the 1960's, he was talking about politics and changing racial discrimination against black people, reducing poverty and the threat of communism around the world.

But this is a great statement for believers to focus their life on.

There is so little time and so much to do for the Lord.

Because believers are to be shinning lights revealing the truth of God to those around them, they need to be wise in how they live.

Wisdom is applying Biblical truths to everyday life.

J.I. Packer - "Wisdom is the practical side of moral goodness."

Paul has said we are to be light (:8) to the world in darkness.

Now he is going to tell us how to be a light.
