Title: Jesus- The Road and The Way (2)
Series: Jesus, The One and Only
Author: Jerry Watts
Text: Matthew 7:13-14, John 14:6, Luke 9:57-62

After preaching "The Road Less Traveled" for 9 weeks, we have pivoted to preaching this series entitled, Jesus-The One and Only. I find that today we are back to talking about a road, a path, and/or a way. Do you know why this is? It is because the 'road less traveled' is the 'road that needs to be traveled' and that road has a name and that name is Jesus, the road and the way. Hecalls us to travel this path. With His first sermon and some of His final words before His death, He speaks of this way, tells of the destination, and gives us the highway number. In these words, "He gives us the full GPS listing."

In these two verses Jesus identifies the course and conclusion of our lives in one of two ways, broad-narrow, easy-hard, death-life, few-many. He begins with the call to "CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE-the narrow way." This was His first message.

His final communication before the cross was just as pointed. In John 14:6, He says, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to get the Father (or travels the narrow road ) except through me."

Jesus not only calls us to walk the narrow road with Him, but we are called TO HIM because He is the road. His call is not simply about doing your best, living a good life, and treating everyone with respect (although that should be an outcome of it), His call is unapologetically to walk the road with Him. Hebrews tells us to "RUN."

For some reason, when it comes to Jesus, people are always looking for an easy way out. Statements or sentiments like, "I'll give Him what I can," "I'll give Him what's lef ...
