I just recently completed my commentaries on First and Second Peter, which was really first time in doing any in depth teaching on those books and to be honest with you it was tough. Peter was a brilliant writer and to me his teachings were much harder to grasp than the writings of the Apostle Paul.

Upon completing those two books, I launched into writing my commentary on First John, which has also proven to be a mental workout. John loves the word know, as he wants us to know about Jesus, to know about love, to know about God, to know about the Holy spirit, and to know about sin.

In my writings, I love to do verse by verse expository outlines and commentary, with alliteration, but John's writings made this a huge challenge. I tried my best to present an outline that is practical, but scripturally correct. In reading these five chapters, it is like chasing a Super Ball around a room, about the time you think you catch it, it bounces here, before bouncing back over there.

Peter and John were both fishermen in their natural environment, but Jesus called both men and made them fishers of men. Those two men have proven that God can do mighty things when he places his calling upon a life. The writings of Peter and John are deep and one cannot haphazardly skim over them you have to take it slow, chew on the verses piece by piece, so as to grasp the significance of each and every subject.

In the last chapter of First John, we encounter two areas of deep controversy and challenge amongst commentators and bible readers. It seems that verse 7 is not in the original manuscripts, though some scribe may have written it ...
