Series: The Road Less Traveled
Author: Jerry Watts
Text: Matthew 6:19-21
Let's turn to Matthew 6 and continue our series entitled, "The Road Less Traveled." Today's message is "Investing Like Jesus."
Invest is not an unfamiliar word to us. Most of the time when we hear the word, we think of money. We invest our money in many things (I.E. stock market, stocks, bond, mutual funds, oil leases, etc) We also invest in 'real property' like land, houses, vehicles, etc.

In a broader sense, investment can also refer to the time, effort, or resources put into something with the expectation of achieving a desired outcome or benefit in the future.
Exactly, we can invest time, energy, and effort. Here's a personal example.

As I recall, there was a barbed-wire fence (3 strands) along the front (which faced West) and the only entrance to this grown over place was on the south side of the land. This gate was just a couple spans of the barbed wire taken loose and pull on movable poles which were held in place by a barbed-wire loop. As a 5th or 6th graded, I saw the land for what it was, but dad saw it for what it could be. And he went to work. Afternoons and weekends, he borrowed equipment and ultimately made this piece of land our home place. In 1970, we built a house there and my folks lived there the rest of their lives. Dad's personal investment in that land made it our home place. Even today, my siblings and I consider that HOME
