Mark 8:27-33 - "And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? (28) And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. (29) And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ. (30) And he charged them that they should tell no man of him. (31) And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. (32) And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. (33) But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men."

This is probably the greatest blooper in all the scriptures. No one ever rose as high and fell as low in so short a time as did -- who else? Simon Peter!

The big fisherman had big feet and they seemed always to end up in his mouth.

The Lord, who was walking with the disciples, was on a timetable of his journey on His earthly ministry. He had to be very careful as He had to fulfill the Old Testament prophecies.

Jesus was very sensitive of public opinion. Those who He could trust and those He couldn't trust to handle His insights and repeat them.

1. Sometimes He would work a miracle and say go home and tell others as well as show the priest.

2. Sometimes He would tell them to not say anything.

The Jews believed in reincarnation and that Jesus could possibly be John the Baptist who wasn't afraid to speak out against issues of the day nor he didn't care who got hurt. John the Baptist got ...
