Sermon Summary: Four humble postures the church can take to help LGBTQ+.

INTRODUCTION: Jerry Seinfeld gave the graduation address for Duke University on May 12, 2024. Dozens of students walked out. Since dozens of students walked out, I decided to watch a recording of Jerry's speech on YouTube. One of his lines was this. "We are embarrassed about the things we should be proud of and proud of the things we should be embarrassed about." Interesting.

We're in our "Humility Month" sermon series and last week I mentioned that in 1999 President Bill Clinton declared that June would henceforth be "Pride Month." But that wasn't the whole story, was it? The whole story is that President Clinton declared that June would be "Gay and Lesbian Pride Month." In 2011 President Obama expanded the officially recognized Pride Month to include the whole of the LGBT+ community. So, these declarations are not celebrating "Pride" per se, they're celebrating pride in and of those communities. How does "humility" characterize our posture, as individual Christians, and as Vero Christian Church, toward these communities?

?Today, I want to use the incident recorded in John 8 of a woman caught in sexual sin to learn four humble postures of the church toward those who are dealing with same-sex attraction. The principles will be applicable to those with gender dysphoria as well. These postures include two"don'ts" and two "do's."
