Let's dive back into our deep dive of Ex 20.... We will be in vs 13 today.

Let me catch you up though.

Words 1-4 all have pointed us to a right relationship with God

?No Other Gods
?No Idols
?Don't take God's name in vain
?Remember the Sabbath

Word 5 Transitioned us to HONOR

Then 6-10 continue that theme on how to live a life of HONOR.

?Honor Property
?Honor Reputation
?Honor yourself

Today we are going to look at a topic that could sound political at times.

We will discover the 6th commandment today in Do Not Murder.

Many look at this commandment through political theology vs biblical theology.

Can I say upfront. Today we will not chase after political views but biblical views.

CAN I ENCOURAGE YOU WITH THIS AS WE COVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS OF THE 10 COMMANDMENTS.... We must not base our theology through the lens of our political views or our feelings. We must base our theology on God's Word and God's Word alone.

Even if there are things we don't like and others do like.

Let's be honest some of the next few commandments will be hard for us especially culturally.

Romans 8:6-7 [NIV] 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so

With topics like today, it is hard for some to not follow the desires of the flesh.. those desires are hostile to God's ways.

That is why so much debate is on this topic today...

SO LET ME SAY... For me... If God said it I stand with it and will live it out.
