Introduction

1. A few years ago some well-known reputable historians got together and wrote some essays on what they called "alternate history." They put up some hypothetical situations of what might have been different if history had been different. In other words, how would the present be different if the past had been different? Here are just a few of those hypotheticals:

1) What if the south had won the Civil War?

2) What if Germany had gotten the Atomic Bomb first?

3) What if americans had lost the Revolutionary War?

4) What if Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King had not been assassinated?

2. On this Easter Sunday I want to pose this question, "what if Jesus has not been raised from the dead?" We are going to conclude a series we have been in called "I Doubt it" dealing with some of the biggest doubts that plague both believers and unbelievers with doubts about God, about the Bible, and about Christianity.

3. Today, we are going to deal with those who doubt that Jesus has been raised from the dead. As I have given it a lot of thought I can only conclude the only legitimate reason why someone truly would not follow Jesus, trust Jesus, love Jesus, and worship Jesus is if you do not believe he was raised from the dead. That would make sense to me. You surely wouldn't want to follow, much less worship a man that is dead, but when it comes to JesusI think we all should agree this is pretty much a black and white issue.

4. Either like every other person who has lived and died, Jesus is still dead or he is physically still alive. Let's pretend for a moment that the doubters are right - that Jesus is still dead and the body of Jesus had been discovered.

What would that mean?
