INTRODUCTION:

What is Revival? When we ask that many people think of

1) Long meetings -

2) Sweaty preachers yelling about sin and hell -

So, for a lot of people revival is the last thing they are interested in.

What is revival really? Martin L Jones defines it this way - We can define it as a period of unusual blessing and activity in the life of the Christian Church. Revival means awakening, stimulating the life, bringing it to the surface again.

I would say that the greatest need in America today is real revival. Awakening. New life, fresh passion, spiritual power, renewed interest in spiritual matters. That is the need of the hour for us all.

Elijah was a man whom God used to bring revival to His people. A simple man, a common man, but a man who was sold out to God. It's amazing what God can do with one man like that. He turns the nation of Israel upside down. In one day the spiritual EKG of the nation goes from being flat lined to showing signs of life. That is revival.

Doesn't that stir up your heart? Isn't that what you need today men. On this Father's day isn't that just what your home and your marriage and your children need the most?

Can we have revival today like Israel did under Elijah? Absolutely.God's people must repent, turn from sin, and return to God. Nothing short of total allegiance to God will bring the fire of God to our homes, our church, our community, and our nation. The purpose of this sermon, the prayer of my heart as a preacher and pastor is that this morning the fire of God will fall on your lives and mine.
