Title: God's Story in the life of a Prophet (1)
Series: Hosea
Author: Robert Dawson
Text: Hosea 1:1-11
Ray Stedman, in his book "Adventuring Through the Bible," shares an encounter he had with an Anglican pastor/clergyman while in England. The pastor told of his experiences during the Battle for Britain in WWII. What bothered the old pastor most were the signs placed in the public squares regarding conscription, being drafted to serve. The signs read, "All persons must register for the draft except women, children, idiots and clergymen."
It wasn't so much being on the list that bothered the old preacher but where he fell on the list. He said it would have been nice, at the very least, to be placed in front of the idiots as those not wanted in the draft!!

In the eyes of many they rank behind the idiots and fools, especially those who speak the truth of God's Word, call for confession of sin, repentance from sin, and for faith and obedience to Christ
That was Hosea. Faithful but not appreciated. God called Hosea to speak His Message (v.1-2a).God wants us to speak His Message.
Hosea 1.1-2a - The word of the Lord which came to Hosea the son of Beeri, during the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel. When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said...
In those verses we see that God's Word came to Hosea. God spoke to Him. God had a word for Hosea. Before we position ourselves to speak for God, or on God's behalf, we should make absolutely sure that what we speak on God's behalf is what God has given to us to begin with. We shouldn't speak for God until we have heard from God.
Though we are not a prophet in the sense Hosea was, God has spoken to us. He has sp ...
