Text: Luke 18:18-23

Sermon Summary: Jesus' three tests: 1) The good test. 2) The bad test 3) The ugly test.

INTRODUCTION: Let me posit to you the "Monty Hall Test". It is a classic problem used in statistics. Monty shows you three doors. Behind one is a car and behind the other two are goats. You pick door number one. Monty then shows you what's behind door number two - a goat - and offers to let you stay with door number one or switch to door number three. What should you do, stay, switch, or does it not make any difference? You think about that, and I'll reveal the answer at the end of the sermon. And there IS a correct answer.

Today, let's consider that this is a "testy"journey. I'm using the word "testy" in the unconventional sense of "facing many tests." I have three points: the good the bad and theUGLY.

It is JESUS that we come to for answers to the important questions such as "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" As the apostle Peter once said to Jesus "To whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."

To whom SHALL we go? Singers?

Elvis Presley upon being asked a political question answered: "I'd just a soon keep my own personal views about that to myself because I'm just an entertainer."
Actors?
