Series: Summer of Psalms series

Quick Overview:
We could probably spend the rest of our lives in study and unpacking the book of Psalms.
This book was compiled and collected... over 800 years in the making!
It has some of the earliest as well as the latest texts of the Old Testament
It is a collection of compositions
Davidic Psalms

Asaph
Two of them by Solomon
One by Moses
One by Ethan
Temple Hymns, Royal Hymns. Psalms were compiled for public prayer, community reading, singing and corporate worship
They include praise, lament, thanksgiving...
There are about 283 quotations from the Old Testament in the New Testament. 116 of them (almost half) are from Psalms!
While dying on the cross, Jesus quoted from Psalms!
Our series this summer will not be so much sequentially from the beginning but taking the message each Sunday out of the Psalms as a whole.
We also are creating a reading plan so you can follow along and read Psalms this summer together as a church community.
With that, I am going to start with Psalm chapter one!

Genesis 1:28 (ESV)
28And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion ...
