Matthew 16:18 (ESV)
18And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

When you build anything of structure you must have in mind what the purpose is for. In fact, the structure itself usually identifies the purpose. You see a barn, storage units, apartments etc and there is an identity to the purpose of the structure. Because the purpose of the structure was in the imagination/dreams/thoughts of the builder before it was created in the natural.

Not too many people just build something and then decide what the purpose is for later. (In fact I don't know anyone who has done that unless it's Billy Bob with too much lumber and time on his hands)

You build a birdhouse for birds, storage shed to store, lean-to to provide shelter for things etc. You build sidewalks to provide safe access, roads for transportation. Bridges to cross something. To take you to the other side safely. You build a deck with BBQ's in mind, coffee in the morning and conversations in the future.

You build stairs for access and entry.
To make it easier and even possible for people to be able to climb up or climb down.

I actually love to assemble stuff...Honestly sometimes the directions are not very clear. And I love it when the box has a picture so I can make sense of it.

Sometimes the difficulty is that you have a product that is made in another country...and they translate from Japanese or German for example...and something gets missed in the translation.

I think that the church today sometimes loses the purpose because something gets' lost in the translation. And it's not that Jesus's instructions are not clear or the blueprint is vague! But we like our own interpretation of the plans at times...
