Forward With Baptism (5 of 8)
SERIES: Forward
STEVE JONES
Acts 2
Sermon Summary: 1) Past Problems, 2) In Salvation, 3) With Assurance, 4) Upon Reflection
INTRODUCTION: One of our church members told me his daughter (7-years-old) referred to herself as "half a Christian". When he asked her why, she said that she believed but hadn't been baptized yet. She's ready to move forward with baptism. So are we. Let's see four ways from Acts 2 that we can move forward with baptism.

"You, with the help of wicked men, put Jesus to death by nailing him to the cross" Acts 2:23
"Save yourselves from this corrupt generation" Acts 2:40.

And when I say "you," of course I mean, "we." But that's not the problem I'm talking about today. I'm talking about THE problem that everyone has, called sin. What IS sin? Sin is breaking God's law. It's wrong to break God's law because God is our creator. As creatures of the creator God, we owe God our obedience. So, when we lie, steal and cheat, for instance, we are disobeying God's law. That's sin. And when we fail to love others, serve others, or help others. That is called sins of omission. That's not an exhaustive list, but you get the idea. Breaking God's law, sin, results in two consequences for us.
1)Sin makes us guilty.
2) Sin makes us sick.
ILLUSTRATION: On April 7, 2018, A drunk man from New Zealand wound up in bad shape after breaking into Wellington Zoo to catch a squirrel monkey. John Owen Casford, 23, snuck through the gates at Wellington Zoo and proceeded to cut through two padlocks to enter the squirrel monkey enclosure, reported the New Zealand Herald. Casford's intention was to steal a monkey for his girlfriend, but he ended up in a physical fight wit ...
