Forward With Waiting (2 of 8)
SERIES: Forward
STEVE JONES
Acts 1
Sermon Summary: Moving forward with waiting is 1) Withdrawal, 2) Action, 3) Infilling, 4) Trust

"Game Night" was an EATING experience where we were encouraged to sample various types of wild game. That's the night I found out that I don't care for venison, rabbit, gator, grouse, or ANY wild game. If Publix and Winn Dixie go down, I go down with them. I was all ready to dominate someone in Parcheesi, but I got stuck with deep fried squirrel nuggets. Even though it was all my fault, it felt like a bait and switch.
Have you ever experienced a bait and switch? You might be about to experience one this morning. Last week we introduced our new sermon series in the book of Acts entitled FORWARD. We're moving forward in the book of acts with application, verification, but most of all, with ACTION. The book is named after ACTION - ACTS. These are the actions of the apostles, the actions of the Holy Spirit, the actions of the early church, the continuing actions of Jesus Christ. I said, "If this book was a movie it would be an ACTION movie." So, what's the first thing we're going to talk about as we move forward today in Acts chapter one? WAITING.
Acts 1:4 "Wait"
Jesus commanded the disciples to wait. Why should we wait? How do we wait? When do we wait? I'm glad you asked. Because today we are going to hurry up and what? Wait. This message on "'waiting" may be the most important one in the entire series (but I think that about every message). L ...
