Read Texts - Today, let's talk for a time about Worldview, what it is, how we get ours as well as how it affects us.

D. A. Carson begins the introduction of his book, "What is a Christian Worldview", with this: He took the blade. It was bright silver. He loved the way it glistened. It felt good in his hand. He cut deep into her chest again and again. He showed no emotion, no recognition of her humanity. She lay motionless, her life gone. He made no attempt to cover the body. Later that night over a beer he openly talked to a stranger in the bar about what he had done. The stranger felt ill.

Heard enough? What do you think? Should 911 have been called, should he have been arrested and put under the jail house? Is there any part of this story that would say, "He needs to be thanked?" NO?! Well, if this had happened in a back alley - I'm with you, but would it change your thinking if I told you that this was in an autopsy room and the man was actually a forensic pathologist who was trying to find her COD? Surely it would.

Our frame of reference controls how we view the world, our worldview, and thus, possesses the power over us to control how process 'world events.' Our frame of reference makes all the difference in the world.

We have just read the Apostle Paul's words to the church at Colossi, telling them to "Be Careful" that NO ONE take you captive to the world's way of thinking. While many other words are used to help us understand, the KJV uses the word 'spoil' as in, 'don't let this world spoil you, harm you, or ruin you.' And how might they do that? Through worldly philosophy, empty deceit which is vain deception, and human traditions based on the elements, principles, and the beliefs of this world.

As we consider this thing of 'Worldview", today's message is offered as a challenge and a help because 'how we view the world' is very important to our spiritual well being ...
