Today, we're continuing our journey through the book of Revelation (chapter 6). Someone asked me this week-why we are committing so many weeks to studying this particular book?... and my response was: Because God promises to bless us if we do.
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it, because the time is near.
The time is near... and God has given us this book, (not to avoid it... but) to study it and know it... so that you and I can be aware of the things, that that Bible says... 'must soon take place.' [Rev. 1:19] is... (a verse known as the 'golden key to Revelation. It's a verse that sort of outlines the entire book of Revelation.) In that verse, Jesus told John to write down 3 things...
Things that you've seen, in the past.
Things which are, in the present.
Things that will take place, in the future.
The majority of this book is related to things that will happen in the future. And I know that's scary to some people... I know it's uncomfortable to think about the future... and things that are considered to be uncertain. But let me tell you one thing I'm certain of today: I don't know what the future holds, but I know that One who holds the future. ...And that's the key. If you know the One who holds the future, you are able to move into the future (by faith... and) without fear.
You say, "Why should I care what happens in the future?" And the answer to that is: ...So that you can prepare for it! What are we moving towards? The Rapture.
When I was a little boy, I watched the "Left Behind" movies series... and it jacked me up for a long time. It was just overwhelming to imagine... this single moment in time where every believer on planet earth... vanishes in an instant. In this one moment ...
