1 Corinthians 11:23-26

This AM, we're finishing up our Come/See journey thru the life/ministry of Jesus. For 12 weeks, we've strapped on our sandals and walked alongside the (12) to learn how to follow Jesus as He walked w/ and taught His disciples.

My hope/prayer for all of us as we've walked this journey is that we've learned even more what it means to follow in the footsteps of Jesus to be His disciples.

Today, as we close out our journey, we're going to connect the dots b/w Jesus' final commission and the Lord's Supper table. Let's begin in Matthew 28:16-20 - in what we know to be the G.C.

Then the disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the H.S., teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Surely, I am w/ you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:16-20

Now turn w/ me to 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, where the Apostle Paul offers the believers at Corinth instruction concerning the Lord's Supper.

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Do you see the connection? Let's connect the dots.

Go into the world and make disciples of all nations... and whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup - you proclaim the Lord. ...
