What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit? Maybe you have in your mind people falling on the ground after being touched on the head by a TV preacher. Maybe you think of Apostles in the NT or preachers preaching and thousands being saved. --- What if I told you this morning that being filled with the Spirit is not a suggesting but the command of God on the life of every believer? What if I told you its not just for preachers or NT apostles, but for every child of God?

This morning I want to talk about living the Spirit-filled life. What I want you to see today is that the greatest resource for living the Christian life has been given to you by God, Himself.

READ TEXT- EPH. 5:18-21

We get have a lot of confusion about this terminology today but understand both Jesus and the early church lived FULL OF THE SPIRIT.

- JESUS WAS FULL OF THE SPIRIT.

Only Jesus has been given fullness without measure

Jn. 3:34- For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.

- The only person to ever live who was perfectly filled with the Spirit at all times without exception, and without measure is Jesus.

Jesus' life was characterized by being Spirit-filled.

Luke 4:1-2- And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness [2] for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.

Notice where the Spirit led Jesus? The wilderness. Where Mark says he was with the wild animals. Where he fasted for 40 days. Where Satan came and tempted him.

- The working of the Spirit in your life does not mean you won't encounter pain, difficulty or even temptation. --- It means you can resist temptation, it means you can endure the trial. It means you can be strengthened by God Himself.
