Last week we started a new series. Explain- Advantage: The Holy Spirit and You

Last week we learned about the promise of His presence. The Holy Spirit is a person. You can't manipulate Him, or use Him. He's not some thing. He's a person with His own mind, will, emotions. He indwells every believer. If you are a believer, you have the promised powerful presence of the Spirit of the Living God in your your life today.

Today, I want to talk about His promised ministry. What's the Spirit up to? He has come in power, so what is He doing? We won't be able to cover everything, but I want to cover the key things Jesus does in John 15 & 16.

We need to know what the Spirit is up to so we can join Him in His work and so we can know what He desires to do in and through our life.

READ TEXT- Jn. 15:26-16:15

[26] "But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father,- Multiple times in these chapters we see the Holy Spirit would be SENT.-- This conveys mission and purpose.

- Send- comes from the greek word that an also be translated commission or appoint. There is purpose, there is reasoning, there is a mission involved.

In 15:26 you see the Trinity at work in unison. Jesus will send the Spirit, who proceeds from the Father--- Remember Jesus was also SENT.

Jn. 3:17- For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

- God sent Jesus, on a mission with a purpose, to seek and save sinners, to inaugurate the Kingdom of God. ---- The Spirit's work is a continuation of Jesus' mission. He's one like Christ, another helper. He comes to continue the work of advancing the Kingdom of God.
