Nehemiah 9:38-10:38
What does life change look like? What does it look like to be serious about your relationship with God? We live in a time when many claim to be Christian but show now commitment.
- The bottom line is we don't walk with God because we SAY SO but because we DO SO. - The fruit of repentance is not I'm sorry. It's life change.
- As believers we need to be serious about our relationship with God. Our repentance needs to manifest itself in a serious commitment to our God and His Word, not because we have pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps, but because God's grace has overwhelmed us, conquered us, and radically changed us.
- If you're not a Christian... Christianity is all about... God's grace is greater than our sin.
Last week we saw the confession and repentance of God's people. They had heard the law and had been broken by it. They had been told that it was a season of rejoicing. Now as the festival season had passed, they began to mourn, confess, and repent of their sin. Last week as we looked at their prayer we saw that they clearly understood God's greatness, and their own smallness... they also understood their sin but that God's grace was greater... this lead them to repentance. This was manifested in that they made a covenant, that's where we pick up this morning. I want us to look at this covenant, this commitment they made.
As the people of God we need to be committed to God, His Word, and one another. We need to be willing to stand up and be counted and to daily make a choice to have what we believe effect how we live. If you are not a Christian, please understand that a genuine walk with God should manifest itself in genuine commitment not simply lip service, but the commitment of a Christian is only possible because of the commitment of Christ to us.
