ILLUS.-What is the most important thing going on in the world today? --- Some might say it's the global conflicts, environmental concerns, maybe you think its something going on in America culturally or politically. Some might say its the election of the next President of what is the most influential country in the world. --- The most important thing going on in the world today is what God is doing in and through the church. --- God is at work in local churches... God's Kingdom is advancing.

In this series Rebuilt as we study the book of Nehemiah, it is my hope that you'll see how God worked in and through His people to protect, preserve, revive, and renew His people and prepare the world for the coming of the Messiah. Just as God worked to rebuild his people in the OT, He is rebuilding us today.

In Nehemiah's day they lived looking forward to the coming of Christ. In fact this book is the last historical book. This book shows us how God re-established his people in Israel before Christ came. Nehemiah had a role to play in God's story as did the other Jewish believers at that time. --- Today we live looking forward to Christ's return and in the mean time we are seeking to see His Kingdom advanced, His people built up... and we need to play our role as the church and as individuals in God's story.
